Google has announced that YouTube Music, YouTube Music Premium and YouTube Premium have been launched in India. The services join Google Play Music and Google Play Movies, which arrived in India in 2017.
India already consumes a lot of music on YouTube. A Nielsen report from 2018 says that YouTube is the country's main source for streaming music, and the Indian music label T-Series outperformed YouTube star PewDiePie as the most subscribed channel on the platform for the third time, before Go back to the second place. T-Series is already the most watched YouTube channel in the world, with a total of 60 billion visits in all the uploaded videos. The current transmission revolution in India, the result of low-cost smartphones combined with falling data rates, means that there are millions of new Internet users eager to broadcast music, and companies are also eager for expand to India to take a part of the market.
These new YouTube services will address a lot of competing broadcast platforms in India, such as Amazon Music, Apple Music, JioSaavn, Gaana and Spotify, which entered the Indian market last month.
the YouTube Music version will be free, YouTube Music Premium will cost users 99 rupees per month ($ 1.42), and YouTube Premium will cost 129 rupees per month ($ 1.85). These are the cheapest rates worldwide, but on par with what other transmission services charge in India. Those who buy YouTube Premium will get features such as the ability to play videos in the background while running other applications, offline downloads, access to YouTube Originals and YouTube Music Premium included.
As in other countries, Samsung Galaxy S10 users in India who are not currently subscribed to YouTube Premium, YouTube Music Premium or Google Play Music can try four months of free access to YouTube Premium.
