The latest update of the Windows 10 application Microsoft Store presents a new design that should facilitate the search for PC games and hardware and software offerings. Discovered by Windows Central, the update brings five new tabs at the top, starting with a startup section that still highlights the best free apps and games, as well as popular moves and TV shows.
The new games section works quite well work of highlighting new "real" PC games such as Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition or best-selling titles such as Sea of Thieves or Minecraft for Windows 10, although it is still difficult to ignore the free mobile game library with app purchases The bottom of this section also includes several game accessories, as well as game apps like Dolby Access or the new DTS Sound Unbound space audio application.
The Entertainment section promotes applications such as Netflix, iTunes and Spotify, as well as content from the Microsoft movie and television store. The Productivity section is dedicated to Windows 10 applications and hardware, including Microsoft Surface devices and accessories, while the Offers section highlights current discounts on applications, games and hardware.
In general, this new design seems more efficient than the previous one. There is still room for improvement. With the Windows 10 May 2019 update, developers can now launch Win32 applications and games in the Microsoft Store, but they are still difficult to identify in the Store. Xbox Game Pass for PC does not receive much love for now, with a simple announcement in the games section that redirects to a website on xbox.com.
