Windows 10 April 2018 Update gets a new patch with build 17134.984

Windows 2018 Oct 02

Microsoft releases new optional patches for the Windows 10 October 2018 update and earlier versions of the operating system this weekend, but the April 2018 update was the only version that did not receive some new fixes. That is now a thing of the past, as the company has just released build 17134.984 (KB4512509) for this version of Windows 10, which brings the following changes:

  • Solves a problem with downloading digital rights management files ( DRM) of certain websites using Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer.
  • Fixes an issue that causes the Deployment Image Service and Administration (DISM) to stop responding intermittently while deprovisioning some preinstalled applications using the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
  • Fixes an issue where the default keyboard for the English language (Cyprus) (en-CY) was not set correctly.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the configuration page to stop working and sometimes prevents default applications from being configured correctly.
  • problem caused by a query request of the Win32_LogonSession class for StartTime to display the value of the time (for example, 1-1-1601 1:00:00) instead of a Current session start time. This occurs when a user who is not an administrator creates the query request.
  • Fixes a problem that causes a Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) call to connect to the Windows PE host (WinPE) fails with the error "0x80070721."
  • Resolves a problem that prevents a App-V application and shows a network failure error. This problem occurs under certain circumstances, such as when a system's battery is low or there is an unexpected power failure.
  • Fixes an issue that unintentionally removed Windows credentials Hello after installing KB4489894.
  • Fixes a rare problem that causes Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) to temporarily prevent other processes from accessing the files.
  • Resolves a problem that causes a workstation to stop working when you log in with an updated user principal name (UPN) (for example, changing [email protected] to [email protected]).
  • Fixes a problem in which the APL Control Windows Defender will not allow third-party binary files to be loaded from an application on the Windows Universal Platform. The CodeIntegrity 3033 event error appears as: "The integrity of the code determined that a process () attempted to load that did not meet the Store's signature level requirements."
  • Fixed an issue that can break the trust of the domain when the Recycle Bin is set to the domain that carries the trust.
  • Fixes an issue that prevents some users from receiving a TTL value when they are added as members of Shadow Principal. This occurs for users who have distinguished names (DN) that contain an escape character. The TTL value is now added as expected.
  • Fixes a problem that can prevent devices from starting when they are started using images from the Pre-Start Execution Environment (PXE) of Windows Deployment Services (WDS) or System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). The error is, "Status: 0xc0000001, Information: A required device is not connected or cannot be accessed."
  • Solve a problem that may cause the following to stop responding:
    • Applications that were made using Visual Basic 6 (VB6).
    • Macros that use Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
    • Scripts or applications that use Visual Basic Scripting Edition (VBScript).
You may also receive an "Invalid procedure call" error.

Because the April 2018 update will no longer be supported after November 2019 for Windows 10 Home and Pro users, Microsoft has already started sending the May 2019 update to these devices to keep them safe. However, Windows 10 Enterprise and Education users will not be affected, as Microsoft will continue to provide additional services until November 2020.
