Windows 10 20H1 build 18941 is now available for Fast Ring Insiders

Microsoft has just released Windows 10 20H1 build 18941 for Fast Ring Insiders. This is a minor version that only brings an updated version of Korea's IME, as well as some bug fixes. It is important to note that Microsoft solved a problem that allowed some Insider in the previous compilation to experience some delay when using their PC.

Microsoft warns Insiders that this new compilation can not be installed under certain circumstances, and if it affects you, you will see the error code "c1900101". There is currently no workaround for this problem, and Microsoft says that some users may also end up in a boot cycle that will force them to manually revert to the previous build. If you're worried about this, you can skip this compilation since Microsoft is working to fix this installation problem on a future flight.

Korean IME Update

Earlier in this development cycle, we released updated versions of the Chinese and Japanese IMEs . As part of our ongoing efforts to modernize and improve your Windows writing experience, today we are launching an updated version of the Korean IME for all members of the network in the fast ring. This update will be made with the aim of making the IME safer, more reliable and more beautiful to see.

For those who are familiar with the typing in Korean, the changes will be more noticeable if you write in Hanja; we have a new candidate selection window that uses modern controls and clearer typography:

 Showing the window of candidates for the Korean IME.

We have also improved the algorithm used for text prediction when writing Korean using the touch keyboard. Text suggestions should now be more accurate and relevant to what you are writing.

With this change, we have a couple of known problems that we are trying to solve:

  • Writing very fast in Notepad can cause the IME to stop working. If you experience this, restarting Notepad should resolve it.
  • When pressing hot keys, such as CTRL + A, while in the middle of writing a Hangul letter has an inconsistent behavior in all applications.

We began to extend this change to a small part of Insiders a few days ago, and I appreciate the comments shared so far! Your comments help make Windows better for everyone, so feel free to continue sharing your opinions and experiences.

General changes, improvements and fixes for PC

  • We have solved a problem that causes some users to experience a big problem. the number of delays when using the previous flight.
  • Fixed an issue where explorer.exe was blocked if you started a search in File Explorer while in a OneDrive folder.
  • Fixed an issue where, if you were looking for an upgrade to Windows options, the result of the search will open to the Windows Update Settings main page, instead of the advanced one.
  • Fixed a problem where the Settings would be blocked if I clicked on the microphone section in Privacy Settings while an audio recording was in progress Win32 Application.

Known Issues

  • If you tried to install Build 18936 or Build 18941 and experienced installation failures with error code c1900101, check the section below regarding this problem.
  • There has been a problem with previous versions of anti-cheat software used with games where, after updating to the latest versions of 19H1 Insider Preview, PCs may suffer failures. We are working with partners to update their software with a solution, and most games have released patches to prevent PCs from experiencing this problem. To minimize the possibility of having this problem, make sure you are running the latest version of your games before trying to update the operating system. We are also working with game developers and anti-cheats to solve similar problems that may arise with the 20H1 Insider Preview compilations and we will work to minimize the likelihood of these problems in the future.
  • Some Realtek SD card readers do not work correctly. We are investigating the problem.
  • Tamper protection can be disabled in Windows security after updating to this compilation. You can turn it on again. In August, the protection against manipulation will be activated again by default for all initiates.
  • Occasionally, the candidate selection in the prediction candidate window for the Japanese IME does not match the composition string. We are investigating the problem.

c1900101 Update Issue

A small number of Windows Insiders attempting to install Build 18936 and Build 18941 versions may experience installation failures with error code c1900101 due to a compatibility error with a storage controller in their device. The PC will try to install, fail and return successfully to the version currently installed on the PC. Attempts to try again to install the compilation, either manual or automatic, will not prevent this problem. Soon there will be a solution, but currently there are no known solutions.

Note: By default, the update will attempt to install (3) times. Users can pause updates if they experience this problem and wish to skip retry attempts.

There are also certain rare cases in which a PC can get stuck in a "boot cycle" (repeatedly restarting again and again without reaching the operating system) due to this problem. If your PC has entered this state, you can follow these steps to get your PC running again:

  1. Create a bootable USB recovery drive by following these instructions. NOTE: DOWNLOAD "Backup my system files to the recovery drive". If you do not have access to another Windows machine, the instructions here should work.

  Create a dialog box for the recovery unit.

  1. Start your PC from the USB recovery drive created in Step 1.
  2. . .
  3. At the command prompt, type: bcdedit / enum {default}
  4. A text similar to the following will appear: Showing the Windows configuration section of the enumeration output. The list of recovery sequences is highlighted.
  5. If the item description says "Windows Rollback" and the item device starts from the ramdisk, continue with Step 7.
  6. Take note of the value of GUID of recoverysequence in the {default} entry.
  7. At the command prompt, type: bcdedit / default {GUID from Step 7 exactly as it appeared}
  8. At the command prompt, restart your PC by typing: wpeutil reboot
  9. Once your PC reboots, You will see two boot input options, the first one will be "Windows 10" and the next one will be "Windows Rollback". Select the option "Windows 10" and that will allow you to start again in the previously installed compilation. The reversion code will be activated and will clean the revert input, so it will not be there in the next startups.

Again, be sure to read the release notes and all the details about the installation problem before installing this compilation. If you wish to omit this, we recommend that you press the Pause button in the Windows Update as soon as possible.
