Watch the first colorful, chaos-filled trailer for Borderlands 3

Nearly a decade after the original version Borderlands Gearbox Software has announced a third major installment of the series, along with a trailer featuring some familiar characters. There are very few details about its plot, characteristics or release date, but this marks the first new and numbered game since 2012, and we will presumably learn more about it on April 3.

The Borderlands 3 the trailer seems to promise the same as Borderlands Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. It looks like a colorful shooting game for up to four players, with a distinctive and endless cartoon style ("more than a billion", compared to the literally of the original game 17.75 million) of weapon varieties of fire generated in a procedural manner.

Yesterday, a teaser trailer called "Mask of Mayhem" confirmed that several important figures from the previous games were returning, including the protagonists of the original game. And he gave us a look at the new quartet of playable characters. The last trailer does not give these characters names or character classes, but we can see them in action with new vehicles, powers and weapons. There are also some details about the villains with whom they will fight, which are related to something called "The Children of the Vault", apparently, in a certain way [19459003Borderlands a cult with a penchant for gladiatorial combat. 19659005] The trailer emphasizes saving and exploring "the worlds" in the plural, so players may be jumping between more locations than in previous games, which were established primarily (but not exclusively) on the rugged planet of Pandora.

Gearbox has also announced that a free texture update package will be released on April 3 for owners of existing games Borderlands . A remastered version of the original game, titled Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition will be released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on the same day.

The big question now is whether Borderlands 3 will bring major changes to the series, or if Gearbox will simply expand and refine the formula it developed in previous installments. So far, the latter has been done mainly, although there has been a VR port of Borderlands 2 and an excellent Telltale adventure game set in the universe of Borderlands .
