Twelve South’s new HiRise Wireless charger tries to compromise between flat and stand designs

Twelve South is cutting the cable with HiRise Wireless, a new version of the company's HiRise iPhone support that (as the name implies) adds wireless Qi to the mix.

But what makes the HiRise Wireless stand out is a smart trick that is adding Twelve South, allowing the main wireless charging platform to jump out of the cradle, allowing it to also use it as a flat wireless charger . (for things like AirPods, or simply for those who simply prefer that form factor) or even throw it in a bag to take it on the way.

I've had the opportunity to try the HiRise Wireless for a few days, and it mostly fulfills that promise. The disc is easy to dismount from the holder, although attaching it took some attempts to make it look good. And moving with the USB-C cable that feeds it makes the whole task a little more annoying than I'd like. Having said that, it's good to have the additional utility, especially to load something like AirPods, which the loaders simply can not do.

The biggest problem I have is the quality of construction: the base of the support is a heavy and heavy piece of leather and metal that looks and feels good. But the actual loading disc and the part that holds it in place feel like cheap plastic, which is a little disappointing on an $ 80 charger.

Regarding the specifications, the HiRise checks most of the other boxes for a good wireless charger: 10W of charging speed (enough to quickly charge Android and iPhone devices) and a removable USB-C cable (USB-A to USB – C cable is included, although it is not a block of energy).

The HiRise Wireless costs $ 79.99 and is available today at Twelve South.
