Microsoft concluded its October Surface event with a surprise presentation of Surface Neo, a new folding entry to its internal hardware line, built around its new Windows 10X operating system. The dual-screen device aims to offer portable productivity with its hinged design, accompanied by native ink support and a thin physical keyboard. Our executive editor, Daniel Rubino, is on the ground, capturing the latest in Microsoft's latest ambitious device.

The Surface Neo consists of two 9-inch LCD screens, chained by a 360-degree hinge for considerable flexibility. It results in an extension of 13.1 inches once expanded, with each half measuring 5.6 mm thick. An Intel chipset powers the new form factor, while the integrated LTE solidifies the device as a portable companion. Wrapped with USB Type-C connectivity and Windows Hello IR facial, its composition results in a 655 gram package, prepared for daily use.

Microsoft's new Surface Slim Pen is combined with the ink signature device. Please note that Surface Slim Pen will be an additional purchase. The magnetic charge allows the pen to adhere to the back, offering an aerodynamic charging solution, similar to Surface Pro X. A Bluetooth keyboard with thin and separate hinges also magnetically joins the device, usable both attached to the screen and independent . This also opens the new "Wonder Bar" from Microsoft, which shows an on-screen trackpad and shortcuts.

Four positions hit the Neo with Windows 10X: a tablet experience distributes applications on two screens, double landscape and double portrait with two applications, and composition mode.

The Surface Neo is scheduled for a 2020 holiday debut, although the formal price and release date has not yet been confirmed.
