The Surface Pro 7 is the last 2 in one in the Microsoft device line this year, announced along with the Surface Laptop 3 Surface Pro X. Although not very different from the previous generation, Surface Pro 7 presents the tan Expected USB- Port C, as well as updated specifications. Today we are unpacking Surface Pro 7 and sharing some of our initial impressions.
Features and specifications
This unit is analyzing features of the tenth generation Intel® Core ™ i7-1065G7 Quad-core processor, 16 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 256 GB of internal SSD storage. The Intel Iris Plus graphics combined with this year's i7 core model are significantly more powerful than the Intel UHD 620 graphics found in Surface Pro 6. It should be noted that all i7 consumption variants of Surface Pro 7 come with 16 GB of memory. Like the previous generation, the Surface Pro 7 has a 12.3 "pen and touchscreen display with a resolution of 2736 x 1824.
Looking at the sides of the device, we don't find that it has changed much since the last generation Surface Pro 7 has exactly the same number of ports as before, however, the Surface Connect Plus port now supports fast charging and the Mini DisplayPort has been replaced by a single USB Type-C connector. Unfortunately, there is no support for Thunderbolt 3 since that’s not something Microsoft has compromised on any of its surface devices, the addition of USB-C is definitely much appreciated and will certainly be much more useful than the previous Mini DisplayPort Surface devices they had had so far.
While the lower battery life of Surface Pro 7 compared to the latest generation Sounds scary, Microsoft still claims some bu in 10.5 hours of typical use. This year's lower battery life ratings are likely to be simply the result of conservative test methods than before. According to the Surface Pro 7 technical specification site:
… The tests consisted of the complete discharge of the battery with a mixture of active use and modern standby mode. The active use part consists of (1) a web browsing test that accesses 8 popular websites through multiple open tabs, (2) a productivity test that uses Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook, and (3 ) a part of the time with the device to use with inactive applications.
Meet the new Surface Pro 7: Technical specifications
The model of recent years was rated using a different strategy:
… The tests consisted of the complete discharge of the battery during playback Of video. All settings were predetermined, except: Wi-Fi was associated with a network and automatic brightness was disabled. Battery life varies significantly with configuration, use and other factors.
Surface Pro 6: Technical specifications
We will have to do more tests to make sure if the battery life is something to worry about or not.
Another of the key features that Microsoft announces with the entire line of Surface devices of this generation is & # 39; Instant-on & # 39 ;. Instant-on is actually a feature contained in the new Intel processors found in these devices. With instant power on, these new Surface devices can wake up almost instantly, even after leaving them for several hours. Of course, we have not yet been able to prove this in depth, but we will be taking note of its effectiveness in preparation for a full review.
