Snap will soon allow game developers to import your Bitmoji to use it as 3D characters. TechCrunch reports that a new Bitmoji for Games SDK will be compatible with the integrated games in Unity, Unreal Engine and Snap's PlayCanvas internal engine, and will be free for selected developers that Snap has chosen for the platform.
This is not the first time that a company has had ambitions to allow it to use the same character in multiple games. The Nintendo Wii introduced the concept of Miis, which were stylized characters that would appear in the games of Wii, Wii U, DS, 3DS and Switch. Microsoft also tested the concept in the Xbox 360 era with its Xbox Avatars that appeared in games from Kinect Sports to Guitar Hero 5 (seriously).
functionality will work by using the Snapchat application to scan a game code to link the game to your Snapchat account. Snap plans to support functionality in games for PCs, consoles and mobile devices. Previously, the company allowed other application developers to import Bitmoji using Bitmoji Kit.
