Despite being only a few weeks away from the presentation estimated by the Pentagon of its winner of the Joint Business Defense Infrastructure (JEDI) contract, it seems that the entire project is undergoing additional scrutiny by an agency Internal control

The Pentagon Inspector General declared on August 13, 2019 that the office is currently reviewing claims of possible ethical issues regarding the JEDI contract worth $ 10 billion.

We are reviewing the Department of Defense's delivery of the JEDI cloud acquisition, including the development of requirements and the request for proposal process.

A multidisciplinary team is investigating concerns about JEDI that were sent to us by members of Congress and through the hotline of the Department of Defense. In addition, we are investigating whether current or former Defense Department officials committed misconduct related to the acquisition of JEDI, as if someone had a conflict of interest related to their participation in the acquisition process. "

In the two years prior to recent events, the competition for the JEDI contract went unnoticed by the public, since Oracle, Amazon, IBM and Microsoft unleashed a torrent of pressure power to influence the Department of Defense in favor of giving their respective companies the lucrative 10-year agreement 19659002] However, in the last four months, the JEDI contract has been under greater scrutiny since Oracle recently lost a court decision regarding its claims for an evaluation process biased by the Department of Defense in his attempt to secure the contract. Weeks after the Oracle trial, President Trump sniffed the situation n and took the opportunity to assign his new Secretary of Defense appointed to re-review the JEDI contract that has led to the current state of affairs.

While Amazon seemed as a result of the JEDI contract, recent months have shown that extenuating circumstances may be lining up in favor of Microsoft.

Ideally, the Department of Defense will have the revision of the contract terminated at the end of August or beginning of September for the good of all involved.
