Philips Hue bulbs can now be grouped together in ‘zones’

Philips Hue has been updated today with a new feature that allows you to group individual Hue lights and bulbs as a group, called "Zone", which facilitates the control of larger lighting configurations through Android Police .

The update is available for iOS and Android starting today, and gives Hue the much-needed option to group several bulbs together. Previously, the tone lights could only control the bulbs through the company's application individually or for the entire room at the same time, but the Zones will allow both a more granular control and the control of groups of lights that are found in different rooms.

more importantly, it will make it easier to control lighting fixtures together with multiple light bulbs; Previously, the only way to do this was to use external software such as Apple's HomeKit to manually group them outside the Hue application.

For now, however, the zones are still in beta, which means that basically it will only work within the Philips Hue application, and in a very limited way. The routines, accessories and voice assistant controls will not work even with the new function, although presumably it will only be a matter of time before Philips reaches that point.
