It was only last week that Oppo launched its Reno 2 series of mid-range phones bringing three new models other than India. Now, Oppo Vice President Brian Shen mocked another Reno smartphone that is scheduled to land sometime after September. media platform Weibo to analyze details of an upcoming Reno product, publishing a series of partially cryptic details.
As noted in the publication, the "Reno_ _ _" is not part of the Reno 2 lineup and will not arrive in September. In a response to a user's message (below) about the 90Hz refresh rates that are unique to OnePlus phones (Oppo's sister company), Shen seems to strongly suggest that this next Reno device will also share this feature.
Does the Reno 5G already have a successor?
As discovered Ausdroid an Oppo phone that supports 5G connectivity has been seen on the TENAA regulatory website (the Chinese equivalent of the FCC) and, given some of its specifications, it could very well be the same phone that Shen is causing.
This next Reno 5G device will have a 20x zoom camera, 3,930 mAh battery, and a 6.6-inch screen with a refresh rate of 90Hz.
Along with the high refresh rate, this new Reno 5G phone will support Oppo SuperVOOC 50w fast charging, which could well be what Shen means when he says "also _ _ww super flash update version".
Given this evidence, along with Shen's mockery and Oppo's inclination for quick pitches, it doesn't seem too unlikely that this is the Oppo Reno 5G 2 (albeit with a more elegant name).
Although all this is still in the realm of speculation, the rate at which Oppo is revealing and launching smartphones recently indicates that we will probably learn much more about this smartphone in the coming weeks, if not days. So stay tuned.
