OnePlus continues to send drip information about its next TV, following the news of its launch date in September and the revelation that it will be called OnePlus TV. We now know the first technical details of the product, courtesy of a tweet from OnePlus India: it uses a 55-inch QLED panel.
Previous presentations have suggested Android-based models between 43 and 75 inches in size, with the 43-inch variant apparently also destined for India. This announcement does not necessarily rule out any of that, but at least it confirms that India is getting a 55-inch version. The 75-inch model is likely to arrive in the US. UU. And China.
QLED is Samsung's marketing term for quantum dot LED display technology: it is nothing like OLED, despite the similar name. QLED panels still depend on the LED backlight, unlike OLED, where each individual pixel emits its own light, so the image quality of a QLED TV depends largely on the effectiveness of the backlight solution. For example, the number of local dimming zones is critical for HDR performance.
In other words, we still can't say much about OnePlus TV until we see it for ourselves. But that is the case with any television, really, and that time will not be so far.
