Microsoft today released new patches for earlier versions of Windows 10. If you are still running version 1809 of the operating system (also known as the October 2018 update), build 17763.832 (KB4520062) is now available with the following Quality improvements:

  • Prevents the appearance of blank tiles on the Start menu when you upgrade to Windows 10, version 1809 from any previous version of Windows 10. These blank tiles have names like "ms-resource: AppName" or " ms-resource: appDisplayName ". However, if you have already upgraded to Windows 10, version 1809, installing this update will not remove existing blank tiles.
  • Solves a problem that causes the power consumption of a connected standby device to be high.
  • Addresses a problem that prevents users from reconnecting or logging into Windows virtual desktops due to orphaned database identifiers from a previous user session.
  • Update the time zone information of Norfolk Island, Australia.
  • Update the time zone information of the Fiji Islands.
  • Fixes a problem that cannot correctly index Microsoft Outlook items, which causes incomplete results in the search query in Windows virtual desktops.
  • Fixes an issue that causes Windows Machine Learning (WinML) to throw an uncontrolled exception when a graphic timeout expires.
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent a scrollbar from being selected when an ActiveX control implements the CScrollView class. This happens if you move the Internet Explorer window, which then moves the scroll bar to the left.
Improves a verification of the access control list (ACL) for known folders to prevent a black screen from appearing the first time a user logs in after installing a feature or quality update.
  • Fixes an issue that causes the names of Microsoft SharePoint files to appear incorrectly in the Quick Access and Recent Items folders.
  • Fixes a problem with Bluetooth that occurs when certain audio profiles are used for extended periods.
  • Solves a problem that causes a query request of the Win32_LogonSession class so that StartTime shows the value of the time (for example, 1-1-1601 1:00:00) instead of the actual login time.
  • Fixes a problem with the processing of diagnostic data when a device has the diagnostic data setting enabled and set to Basic.
  • Fixes a problem with the evaluation of the compatibility status of the Windows ecosystem to help ensure application and device compatibility for all Windows updates.
  • Fixes an issue that prevents netdom.exe from displaying the new ticket concession ticket delegation (TGT) bit for display or query mode.
  • Fixes an issue where Microsoft AppLocker could prevent an application from running or register a false positive error instead of running the application.
Resolves a problem that causes the Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC) policy to become too restrictive when you enable the WDAC Group Policy settings for Script Application or Restricted Language Mode.
Fixes a problem that does not include the complete hash of the file as part of the Event Log entry during audit events for WDAC.
  • Fixes a problem that can cause high CPU usage when many windows and background are opened The application manager runs a periodic background scan. In addition, the desktop may stop responding. To disable this scan, configure the following registry key:
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Explorer BamThrottling
    • Name: DisableWindowHinting
    • Type: REG_DWORD
    • Value: 1
  • Fixes an issue that causes applications that use change notifications on named pipes to have kernel mode memory of inbound and outbound (I / O) request packet (IRP) packet objects.
  • Fixes an issue that prevents users from opening the print dialog box in Internet Explorer to print a web page.
  • Add support to allow removable drives and assigned access restrictions.
  • Resolves a problem that causes printing from 32-bit applications to fail with a "Access denied" error when you choose Run as a different user for the application.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause error 0x1E, 0xA or 0x50 during a block cloning operation on a Resilient File System (ReFS) volume due to a race condition. [19659003] Fixes a problem in the graphical user interface (GUI) of the offline file Shell over online and offline indicators.
  • Fixes a problem that causes the Configuration application to stop working when a theme is changed.
  • Addresses a reliable problem and problem in Windows Server 2019 Hyper-V Host Clusters that are managed using System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM).
  • Fixes a problem with Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) queries that have a "member of" expression in the filter. Queries fail with error "000020E6: SvcErr: DSID-0314072D, problem 5012 (DIR_ERROR), data 8996".
  • Solves a problem that causes all dynamic ports of the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) to be consumed. As a result, network communications will fail for any protocol or operation that uses dynamic ports.
  • Solve a problem with applications and scripts that call the NetQueryDisplayInformation API or the equivalent WinNT provider. They may not return results after the first page of data, often 50 or 100 entries. When requesting additional pages, you may receive the error "1359: an internal error occurred."
  • Resolves a problem that prevents computer objects from being added to local groups using the Group Policy Preference "Local Users and Groups". The Group Policy Editor returns the error message: "The selected object does not match the type of destination source. Select again."
  • A problem with a race condition between the volume assembly process was fixed ( within fileinfo.sys) and the cancellation of the filter notification log that causes the operating system to stop working on certain virtual machines. The error code is "0x7E".
  • Resolves a problem in which a certificate of Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) is renewed and published by default every year, however, the client does not use them, resulting in an authentication error.
  • Fixes a problem where Files that are stored in a Shared Cluster Volume (CSV) with an alternate data stream are still present after you try to delete them. You may also receive a "access denied" message on e The next attempt to access or delete the files.
  • Fixed an issue that may cause the 0x50 error when a backup operation is performed.

Please note that some minor errors, such as the error code "15-5" that may appear in the Windows Mixed Reality Portal are still present in this compilation. Microsoft is still working on the solutions that will be available in an upcoming version.

Windows 10 version 1803 will come to support for Windows 10 Home and Pro users next month, and Microsoft is currently in the process of updating these users to Windows 10 version 1903 (or the May 2019 update). Version 1803 will continue in service for Windows 10 Enterprise and Education users after November, as is the case for version 1709 that will also receive a new patch today.

Microsoft is likely to release a new patch for the latest version of Windows 10 (1903) soon. Hopefully, the new bits will include a solution for persistent problems with the Windows 10 start menu that Microsoft recognized last month, but that didn't solve immediately.
