Motorola’s One Action tries to stuff a GoPro into a smartphone

Motorola announced the “One” budget phone line last year and today announces the latest model, Motorola One Action. Motorola One Action seems to stand out from the public by offering video like action cameras like the name and quality of the smartphone.

The name "action" refers to a dedicated ultra-wide-angle video camera with a 117-degree viewing angle designed to shoot video, like the third rear camera, the GoPro. Motorola does a few things to make the action different from normal cell phone video, starting with the lens itself.

Ultra wide angle of view, but Motorola physically rotated the sensor. In other words, if you hold the One Action vertically, the frame of the camera will record the video horizontally (or vice versa). It's a small change, but it's a clever change that will help customers maximize their unique hardware here. Motorola also offers software-enhanced algorithms that provide "enhanced video stabilization" to reduce shake during shooting. We really need to see how everything stays in reality, but it's an interesting idea for a smartphone.

The rest of the specifications in One Action are more in line with what you would expect from a cheap Android phone with a 6.3 inch FHD + panel with hole punch cutouts for 12 million pixel cameras. The other two rear cameras are similar: 12 megapixel main lens, 5 megapixel depth sensor for portrait effect.

Usually Motorola One Action is powered by Samsung Exynos 9609 processor, not one of Qualcomm's Snapdragon chipsets. The rounding is 4GB RAM, 128GB onboard storage, USB-C port (and headphone jack) and 3500mAh battery.

There are some changes in software as well. Despite the "One" branding in the name, One Action comes internationally with Android One. The North American version, which will be sold in the US and Canada in October, regularly has Android 9 Pie. Ensure future OS updates for your Android One phone.

Unlike the Motor E, G and Z lines, the highly anticipated Motorola One brand is a bit harder to hit the pin. Specifications are at the top of a budget phone spectrum similar to Moto G or Z, but hardware tends to be a bit more experimental than standard Moto brand phones.

Motorola One Action is scheduled to launch today in Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific, starting in Brazil, Mexico and "various European countries" starting at € 259 (approximately $ 288). Prices in North America have not been announced yet, but sometime in early October they will be heading to the US and Canada (without Android One software).

Correction : Motorola One Action is a wide-angle camera, not a 117-177 degree lens. In addition, there are headphone jacks that are not in the original in this article.
