  Microsoft's GitHub acquires Semmle, manufacturers of a code analysis tool

Approximately more than a year after becoming part of Microsoft, GitHub yesterday reinforced its domain with the announcement of the acquisition of Semmle, the manufacturers of A code analysis tool. The measure is presented as an opportunity to allow more ways for developers to protect their applications and find vulnerabilities in their code.

As part of the new acquisition, there will be no interruptions in existing Semmlle products. Both GitHub and Semmle will remain committed to open source, and the Semmle service will remain free for public repositories and open source projects. Semmle will also continue with its open source research projects, but at the same time, it will be integrated with the existing GitHUb product line. Semmle's CEO and co-founder, Oege De Moor, reflected on this in a statement.
