Microsoft today announced a multi-year partnership with OpenAI, a San Francisco-based company that aims to make artificial intelligence benefit all of humanity. As part of the agreement, OpenAI will receive an investment of $ 1 billion from Microsoft, and the company will also transfer its service to Azure and choose Microsoft as its preferred partner to market new AI technologies
Microsoft and OpenAI also plan to work together in New AI supercomputing technologies to solve the most difficult problems in the world. “Companies will focus on building an unprecedented scale in Azure computing platform, which will train and execute increasingly advanced AI models, which include hardware technologies that are based on Microsoft's supercomputing technology and adhere to the principles shared ethics and trust of the two companies. This will create the basis for advances in artificial intelligence to be implemented safely and reliably, and is a fundamental reason why companies decided to partner, "Microsoft said in the press release.
Under the leadership of Satya Nadella Microsoft has significantly increased its investments in Azure and artificial intelligence in recent years, but unlike some of its competitors, the company also expressed its intention to leverage AI in a responsible manner, as we have seen with the creation of a committee of AI and Ethics in Engineering and Research (AETHER) last year.
"" Artificial intelligence is one of the most transformative technologies of our time and has the potential to help solve many of the most pressing challenges in our world " said Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. "By combining the cutting-edge technology of OpenAI with the new supercomputing technologies of Azure AI, our ambition is to democratize AI, while always maintaining the security of the AI and the center, so that everyone can benefit," Nadella said at the Press release.
