Microsoft is creating an even larger version of its new Surface Hub 2 hardware. Today, at a press event in New York City, the software maker is unveiling a larger 85-inch Surface Hub 2 model. Unlike the smaller version of 50 inches, this larger model has a 16: 9 screen that is more in line with the original Surface Hub. Microsoft is using a 3: 2 aspect ratio on its new 50-inch Surface Hub 2S.
While the smaller Surface Hub 2 can be paved with up to four 50-inch panels from side to side, this larger 85-inch model is designed for companies looking for something even bigger. The head of Surface, Panos Panay, today introduced the new 85-inch model and briefly showed it between two of the 50-inch versions. However, Microsoft does not provide price or release dates for this larger model of Surface Hub 2.
Microsoft will today release its Surface Hub 2S model, which includes a removable cartridge that It will be updated next year. Microsoft will make available an upgrade cartridge (Surface Hub 2X), which will improve the CPU, RAM and GPU of the Surface Hub 2 and update it to a newer operating system. Features such as rotation and mosaic of four Surface Hub 2 displays will also be enabled with this 2X cartridge.
