Microsoft announced almost a year ago that it was working in dark mode for Outlook on mobile devices and started to arrive today. The Outlook app for iOS and Android both includes a new switch to turn on dark mode, and when you activate sleep mode, the Android version also automatically switches to mode. The new options are consistent with Apple's work in iOS 13 for system-wide dark mode, and Outlook on iOS and Android are starting to update today.
Outlook is not the only Microsoft app for mobile that supports dark mode. . Microsoft is working hard to bring the same dark theme to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive, Planner, and To-Do for Apple's iOS 13 release. The web version of Office.com is also being updated in dark mode today, and the web versions of OneDrive and Planner will soon receive the same treatment.
Microsoft is better at working in Dark Mode for Outlook for a year, and it's not as simple as switching on in software. Jon Friedman, Office Design Officer at Microsoft, explains in a blog post, “We started with the new gray palette for Fluent and started fitting our app palette into a single palette,” he says. "This included improvements in contrast, brand saturation, and consistency between details such as how and when shadows are used in dark modes."
Another video to highlight the broad focus on dark modes in Office. Created. Dramatic video is the latest in a series of Microsoft's sexy return to sexy software.
