Gartner, Magic Quadrant for Integrated Endpoint Management Tools, Chris Silva, Manjunath Bhat, Rich Doheny, Rob Smith—August 6, 2019.
Earlier this month, Gartner announced the 2019 Magic Quadrant (MQ) for Integrated Endpoint Management.
Gartner, like last year, deployed Microsoft in the Leaders Quadrant in the Magic Quadrant for Worldwide Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) in 2011, based on its complete vision and execution capabilities in the UEM market. ”Microsoft is also the best in the“ performance ”axis.
Good news, but like subjective measures, the most important part of a UEM product is its impact on the organization using the product. When I meet my clients, almost all of them seem to embrace the three strengths Gartner presented in the report.
- Extensive integration of products exposes features that are difficult to replicate in fractions.
- Exclusive Integration with System Center Configuration Administrator (ConfigMgr) and Incremental Migration to Microsoft Intune and ConfigMgr Co-Management on PCs can reduce the complexity of transitioning to UEM.
- Seamless integration with Office 365 mobile apps.
MQ, it's always interesting to consider the trends and market forces that drive Gartner's ultimate conclusion. For example, there is no doubt that complete endpoint management should include on-premises tools and processes for managing your PC. This is the perspective we've won for years, and that's why we've pursued an integrated solution that seamlessly connects cloud capabilities to our existing PC management infrastructure. I am very happy to see many other people in the community respond to this customer's needs.
The most useful way to look at all of this is to judge for yourself the shape and meaning of "modern workplace." Organization to modernize. In my opinion, what makes management tools "modern" is whether the insights and intelligence have cloud scale and cloud connectivity. This type of connection not only gives tools more control and insight to IT teams, but can also improve and improve the tools in ways that were not possible in the past. This perspective guides you through all the decisions your team makes when investing and engineering in Intune and ConfigMgr. This type of endpoint management benefits everyone who uses it, including organizations that are not ready to fully transition to cloud-based management.
Microsoft wrote a lot about “emphasizing customers seriously. At all stages of our engineering process—an obsession ”, but now the positive effects of this emphasis are beyond the company. Over the past year, several UEM vendors have announced their integration with Intune and ConfigMgr, indicating that customers can also benefit from Microsoft 365. Gartner reports that integration of these other vendors ranks positive within MQ. It's amazing that Intune is not only a ubiquitous standalone solution, but also now used as a platform.
I am very proud of my work with these suppliers. We currently have a big partnership with Google's Android Enterprise team. Here, Google is one of the first partners built on an advanced cloud management architecture, and Apple's extensive support for macOS and iOS continues.
Intune (and Microsoft 365) is the ideal solution for most organizations because most organizations already use ConfigMgr for PC management. I recently announced that ConfigMgr and Intune have managed [morethan175million Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android devices to become the most widely used endpoint management solution. And that number increases by a million every week!
Why this growth is so important to you is because 175 million endpoints bring back the most complete and authoritative dataset on enterprise devices. With so many signals, what we learn gives us the insight we need to build the tools and features we need. This is the beauty of modern management. Learn on the cloud scale, then personalize and apply your learning to any organization of any size. This is a unique Microsoft 365 feature and it's great. As you continue to plan your organization's needs and infrastructure needs, let us know how you can support what you're doing with Microsoft 365.
