If you live to the limit thanks to the Edge Insider Canary channel, some news awaits you. Version 79.0.307.0 was released recently and brings a new function of freezing of tabs, options for new profile icons, as well as an interesting error (through Techdows.)
As usual in these versions of Canary, some of the new features bring errors and will be hidden behind the flags. One of them is an error in which the browser icon is broken. As noted Eric Lawrence on Twitter the Canary icon now appears as the default Google Chromium icon.
However, to access the new profile icons, you will need to have multiple profiles set to Edge Canary. You can then visit the Edge setup menu and then click on profiles . From there, you can click on " … " next to where it says Log out, and then choose the option Edit . You can then choose one of the 20 new icons, with themes of animals, food and more.
To obtain the new eyelash freezing function is a somewhat more complicated process. However, it may be worth enabling if you have many tabs open. It will automatically freeze open tabs in the background for more than five minutes. This will save memory and increase browser efficiency. You must enable the following flags with these steps.
- Go to the edge: // flags
- Use the search bar at the top and enter Freeze
- When you see the Tab Tab Freeze, click where it says Default and change it to Enabled
- Restart the browser
Please note that you may have the option to permanently freeze the tabs, or simply defrost every 10 seconds after 15 minutes. It may be an option that you want to enable if it depends on something on the tab, such as music or a video.
