Microsoft Edge Canary can now limit autoplay videos

A new option to limit autoplay videos on websites is available to users running the latest version of the Canary Channel's Microsoft Edge. The feature requires users to enable the feature through about: flags. MSPowerUser detected the new feature last week.

Autoplay videos are often criticized for being annoying and for hindering the content that users want to see. Both news videos and advertisements on web pages can interfere with users who read text. The limitation of the videos of automatic reproduction will be welcomed by many users, although it is a bit controversial because it affects the ads on the web.

Kyle Pflug, from the Microsoft Edge team, tweeted about the new feature and included a summary. Although the function "prevents certain websites from reproducing media automatically", it should be noted that "the most popular websites will not be affected".

Microsoft continues to add new features to Microsoft Edge and we will see how the limitation of autoplay videos advances in the future.
