Microsoft acquires cloud migration company Movere

  Microsoft, Azure

Microsoft continues to strengthen its Azure services through the acquisition, this time with the incorporation of the Movere cloud migration company into the arsenal. Movere seeks to make it easier for companies to move to the cloud, having learned some of the pitfalls in the past eleven years as he grew up as a consulting firm that works to provide actionable data, "giving customers the power of the history of that only data can say ". Movere has been working closely with Microsoft over the years, and Microsoft is pushing hard for more and more companies to make the switch to the cloud, so this is a natural fit.

Microsoft sees the acquisition as a complement to both Azure Migrate and other third-party solutions to help make the move, according to Jeremy Winter in an Azure Blog publication announcing the acquisition:

Innovative discovery capabilities and evaluation of Movere will complement Azure Migrate and our integrated solutions for partners, making migration an easier process for our clients. We believe that successful cloud migrations allow business transformation, and this acquisition underlines our investments to make that happen.

Together, Azure Migrate, Movere and our ecosystem of independent software vendor partner (ISV) solutions offer options and a comprehensive set of capabilities from discovery, evaluation, to migration and optimization. Our goal is to simplify the journey of our customers to the cloud, allowing them to bring innovation and transformation with the power of Azure.

Microsoft has been increasing its pace of Azure acquisitions lately, as it continues to develop what is rapidly becoming the center of the company's focus as it moves beyond Windows and Office.
