Phones that sound and light during a movie can be a distraction. But what about the watch on your wrist? Here's how to mute it when you enable Theater Mode.
While watching a movie in the theater, there are many annoying distractions. You have people talking, phones ringing, popcorn … etc. With luck, you put your phone in "Silent or Do Not Disturb" mode while you're at the movies anyway. But what about your Apple Watch? Making it sound and illuminating with notifications can ruin a movie for you and those around you in the same way.
Luckily, if you are using watchOS 3.2 or higher, you can stop notifications with Theater Mode. When activated, puts your watch in a silent mode that keeps the clock dark until you press the screen. It also disables the Walkie Talkie function. Here's how to use it on your Apple Watch to minimize the distractions that come from your wrist while enjoying a movie.
Activate the Theater Mode on the Apple Watch
To enable it, slide up from the bottom of the watch face to open the Clock Control Center. Then, at the bottom of the screen, press the button that looks like two theater masks. Next, you must touch Theater Mode to confirm that you want to activate it.
Note that the location of the Theater Mode button may vary depending on how you have organized the items in the Control Center.
When activated, you will see the Theater Mode icon at the top of the watch screen. To turn it off, simply press the screen or crown to reactivate it. Slide up to show the Control Center and touch the theater masks button again. It will indicate that Theater Mode is off at the top of the screen.
When you enable the Theater Mode on your watch, you and the other theatergoers are sitting next to you – you can enjoy (or hate) the movie that you are watching in peace. It can also be useful any time you want to keep your watch silent. Like when you're in a meeting or even while enjoying a movie at home with your loved ones.
