Tesla is currently pre-sold on the website for the newly released model Y, the all-electric crossover SUV and the company's fifth electric car. The company unveiled the model Y at an event outside Los Angeles on Thursday evening.
Tesla's Elon Musk CEO said the long-range model Y will be available for the first time in the fall of 2020 and will have a range of 300 miles. Tesla will also sell a $ 51,000 all-wheel drive dual-motor version and a $ 60,000 performance version, both of which will be available in the fall of 2020. The low-cost standard version, which spans 230 miles, says that Musk will be available by 2021 and will be sold for $ 39,000.
All versions of Model Y can be pre-ordered except for the standard range . This follows Tesla's habit of selling the most expensive version of the car first. The remaining three versions and all options are pre-ordered with a $ 2,500 deposit. Model Y with 7 seater seats is not available until 2021.
Shortly after Model 3 was released in 2016, more than 100,000 hopefuls bought a $ 1,000 deposit to pre-order a $ 35,000 sedan. Many people canceled the reservation or bought a more expensive car version the following year. Last March, the $ 35,000 model 3 was sold for that price.
