Slack makes it incredibly easy for you to communicate and collaborate with your teams. With the Android application, you can do it whether it is on your desktop or not. But with the default Slack settings, certain notifications may be lost, especially when using the Slack mobile application.

So how do you make sure you get the most out of Slack notifications? One thing you should consider doing outside the door is to enable thread responses. Without this option enabled, you could easily miss replies to any number of messages within a thread.

Let's activate that option so you don't lose important responses to the threads in your workspaces.

What you will need

The only things you will need are:

  • A Slack account
  • A workspace for which you have been assigned
  • The Slack Android application installed [19659013] How to enable thread responses in Slack

To enable thread responses in Slack, you must log in to your Slack account in the Android application and then go to the workspace you want to use, as this is Workspace Once in that workspace, touch the menu button in the upper right corner and then touch Settings in the drop-down menu ( Figure A ).

Navigating to the Configuration window in Slack.

From within the window of Settings, tap Settings in the Notifications section. In that resulting window ( Figure B ), you will see the message Notify me about responses to threads.Touch the On / Off slider until it is in the On position .

Now you can exit to Settings window. From this moment, you will be notified of any response to a thread in your workspace. If you find this can be overwhelming (which can happen in a busy workspace), turn off notifications. However, if you have been missing the thread responses, you may want to consider suffering the flood of notifications to keep up.

The warning

Of course, there is a warning. This warning is that Android could be blocking notifications to the Slack application. The operation of this will depend on the combination of the version of Android you are using and the device you own. With Android 10, Slack notifications don't work at all. Hopefully this problem is resolved as soon as possible, otherwise, you will simply continue to lose those important thread responses.

If you find that notifications are not displayed on your device, it could be due to a damaged cache. To erase this, go to Slack | Workspace | Menu | Settings | Advanced | Reset cache If that doesn't solve the problem, and you're on Android 10, wait until an update for Slack or Android appears and cross your fingers to solve the problem.
