How to discard previous Outlook reminders in Office 365

This is what you should do to discard reminders of past events in Outlook.

1. Open the Outlook application in Windows 10
2. Go to File> Options> Advanced
3. In the Reminders section, check the box next to Automatically discard reminders for past events
4. Click OK

Jen Gentleman, Software Engineer, Community Manager and Windows Insider working at Microsoft, shared a useful tip to get rid of reminders of past events in Outlook. Gentleman's discovery causes many people to wonder why Microsoft did not enable this Outlook setting by default.

Apparently, there is an option in Outlook that allows you to automatically discard reminders of past events. This is what you should do to discard reminders of past events in Outlook.

1. Open the Outlook application in Windows 10
2. Go to File> Options> Advanced
3. In the section Reminders check the box next to Automatically discard reminders for past events

Gentleman's discovery will help us get rid of those annoying reminders of the past. There is nothing more irritating than returning to work after the holidays and opening Outlook in Office 365 to dozens of previous reminders that you missed while you were away. Once you change this setting in Outlook, the above reminders will be automatically discarded.
