Google launches Gallery Go, a lightweight alternative to Google Photos

Gallery Go is a new Google application designed to allow people with unreliable internet connections to organize and edit their photos. Like the regular Google photo app, use machine learning to organize your photos. You can also use it to automatically improve your images and apply filters. The difference is that Gallery Go is designed to work offline and occupies only 10 MB of space on your phone.

Gallery Go is just the latest lightweight version of an application designed for developing markets like Nigeria, where Google announced the new application. Facebook has produced "Lite" versions of the main Facebook application, as well as Messenger and Instagram, and Twitter has done the same with the Twitter Lite application. Google has even done something similar at the operating system level with Android Go, a lightweight Android-based operating system that is designed to work on low-cost smartphones that lack powerful processing.

The new Google photo app is now available for download in the Play Store. To run it, you will need a device with Android 8.1 Oreo or higher.
