Ecobee may also have a new premium thermostat on the way

Yesterday, an Ecobee leak may have inadvertently revealed plans for the intelligent thermostat manufacturer to expand its presence in the home, but is still thinking about the temperature. A new leak shows that the company may also have a new entry thermostat.

Dave Zatz of ZatzNotFunny unearthed the next image of a new room sensor that, according to him, will include a new premium thermostat. a glass screen instead of plastic, one that will probably be called Ecobee4 +.

While those specific data come from the sources of Zatz – and says ] is not sure that Ecobee4 + is the definitive name; they are corroborated by the fact that a revised Ecobee thermostat (model: ECB402, compared to the ECB401 of Ecobee 4) and a new room sensor (for temperature and occupancy) have just obtained the FCC certification database.

In addition, we found a mention of that temperature sensor in a remote corner of the Home Depot website, suggesting that it is not just an Ecobee prototype, but a product that will probably go on sale. Zatz says that the temperature sensor has a magnetic base, unlike today's plastic (see our image of the current sensor at the top of this post).

Zatz also notes that the 900MHz radios within this so-called Ecobee4 + have been revised in a way that could point to it becoming a center for Ecobee's leaky contact sensors and any other future smart home equipment :

But do not turn to Ecobee to confirm any of this now.
