Someone at Microsoft has accidentally parked a buttock on the big red button, issuing a surprise version of Windows 10 for Insiders next year.

We saw the structure, 18947, appeared during lunch where we did not expect it and a look at social networks indicated that we were not the only ones who were suffocating with a burrito by surprise.

Build 18947 is a 20H1 version of Windows 10, which will appear in the first half of 2020. The last "official" release of the preview code was 18941, which was so boring that the Windows team clearly thought that It was time to animate things with a surprise download on Windows Insiders disks.

And, to be clear, it is only Windows insiders affected.

The alarming aspect is that this compilation seems to make its way into a substantial proportion of Windows Insider PCs, regardless of the test ring. Fast Ring users, who live at the limit, expect to receive the code 20H1, while Slow Ring users are testing 19H2. Ring Preview Preview users must be at 19H1 (the May 2019 update) for early access to patches and fixes.

Now, in an impressive leveling of the playing field, Microsoft has decided to offer 20H1 to all Windows Insider rings.

To make matters worse, Zac Bowden of Windows Central reported that the code was a compilation of canaries, which lacked even the internal tests performed by Microsoft before making a decision on whether the thing should be inflicted In Windows Lucky Insiders.

While the team has maintained its usual radio silence about the problem (apart from a concise "We are investigating it" from Windows Insider, the supreme Dona Sarkar), Windows members must make a pause quickly.

The Register asked Microsoft what the Windows gang was doing in a demonstration of the legendary and terrible communication. As the Windows Insider team is famous, they were told that the company would not be commenting on the problem. ®
