Detective Pikachu’s characters are joining Google’s augmented reality lineup

Google is adding four new Playmoji to its Augmented Reality game service based on the next characters Detective Pikachu . Starting today, you can download and take photos with Charizard, Jigglypuff, Mr. Mime and Detective Pikachu from the Playground section of the camera application on Google Pixel phones.

The search giant renamed its AR Stickers based on ARCore as Playmoji during the Google Pixel 3 event last year. Initially, the characters were only available with the latest generation of Google phones, but in December, Google expanded its availability to Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. Along with Pixel devices, Google says the new Playmoji is also available on select LG and Motorola phones.

On Pixel phones, you can find the Playmoji characters in the Playground section of the camera application (which you can find in the "More" option in the lower part of the monitor). The first time you try to use them, you will be asked to download them from the Google Play Store, after which they will be available to place them in a scene. However, keep in mind that these are the versions of the characters in the movie instead of the cute ones you remember from cartoons or games. That means that Pikachu has fur, Charizard has scales, and Mr. Mime has a spooky face that you should not leave near your loved ones.

Detective Pikachu is not the only recent movie that Playmoji gets. Last month, Google added five new Avengers: War Machine, Thor, Black Widow, Rocket and Captain Marvel, to coincide with the release of Endgame .
