Chrome and Chromium-based Edge are getting a new

Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge will soon have a new button & # 39; reveal password & # 39; which will allow you to verify that you entered your login credentials correctly. The button will automatically appear in the password fields of any website.

Microsoft is developing the button for the new Edge based on Chromium, and has decided to allow Google to add it to Chrome as well.

According to 9to5Google, the button will appear as an eye icon, which will make the password text visible when clicked. You can also reveal your password using the keyboard shortcut Alt + F8.

Inherited feature

The button is not a completely new feature, it was part of the previous version, prior to Edge's Chromium, and Internet Explorer before that.

It will only work with the passwords you have written yourself, not the autocompleted ones by the browser, which should clear some security problems, but it is still unclear how it will work with third parties.

There will be no way for site owners to customize or delete the button when it starts, which will make things interesting for sites like Netflix that already have their own version. Having an additional redundant button is not ideal, so I hope that Microsoft and Google will add a way for developers to delete it in a future update.
