The release date of Borderlands 3 was September 13 and in a few days the title appeared largely on the entire web. Some have highly praised the game, others have expressed their unsatisfied expectations, but in general, judging by the last days since its launch, this game has chosen to be the most popular of the three series entries. The series began with the first installation that came out in 2009, which was followed freely by the sequel 3 years later, and now, 10 years after the first and six after the second, is the third entry eagerly awaited here.
Development and reception
As mentioned, in the last days since its launch, the game has received mixed reviews. Mixed as in some people, especially old fans, they love it and some say they expected a more innovative version of the game. However, the game developer, Gearbox, has created this game in coalition with 2K Australia and Telltale Games, and everyone seems to have agreed on one thing: it is not fixed what is not broken.
In terms of platforms, Borderlands 3 systems include PlayStation 3, Windows, Xbox 360, OS X, PlayStation Vita, iOS, Android, Linux, PS4 and, of course, Google Stadia. The game obviously has a fairly wide reach and is logical. Over the past decade, fans of the original Borderlands 1 and 2 have made the transition to other platforms, while PC games were dominant in the back 00s, of course. Now, the development team obviously wanted to honor their old school fans and reach them on as many platforms as possible and this is also the logic behind the game design, which is, as mentioned, true to the original.
The story (SPOILER FREE)
As before, this is not just a simple linear FPS and the game features a pretty driven narrative, with Borderlands 3 characters as colorful as ever. Not to spoil anything, this game is still a social MMO experience and has no problems in how it integrates its history with its game and multiplayer game. The initial plot remains part of the ongoing general story that involves the entire franchise.
The stage is in Pandora, a planet known to unconditional fans, and is, among other things, known for the rumored treasure and hidden technology vaults that several dirty companies sought before. This is still the case, since the Vault Hunters (the characters controlled by the player) are still roaming the land. This game begins some time after the death of Handsome Jack, seen in Borderlands 2, followed by the fall of the Hyperion body from the following content of the Tales from the Borderlands expansion set. However, this time, many other vaults are discovered on other planets and this naturally causes new personality cults and bandit factions to emerge, while also attracting old ones known as Children of the Vault. The player enters as a new recruit to help combat VOC.
As a first-person shooter loyal to his predecessors, this game seems quite familiar at first sight. However, Gearbox has made numerous improvements, visual and other. They didn't, we repeat, they didn't mess with the central game and this is still the epic game everyone loves. But, the game works noticeably faster and smoother and gun shooting animations are extremely impressive. And, when we talk about weapons, this is where the real improvement and innovation comes from.
Borderlands is a franchise famous for its strange weapons, science fiction, from this world or from any other world, and this third edition of the series has built its entire new world on that. To illustrate a little what we mean by that, the franchise players know that what gives the game so many weapon options is the perfect ability to customize and randomize the weaponry in any direction thought by a man so far. For this, the previous two games have had around 700 to 1000 weapon variants each. However, the developer said that the weapons and weapons of Borderlands 3 come in "more than a billion variants." Obviously, the number is not meant to be a literal statement, but the depth of personalization really makes the possibilities endless.
As mentioned, the overall graphics are greatly improved. This affects the game in FPS games, like this one, to a large extent, since visual cues are of the utmost importance. The animations and the game itself run a little faster, everything is smoother and clearer. The animations and effects of the weapon are much clearer to read and understand, which is the most important part, in an intuitive environment like this, visual cues are all you really get. In addition, other mechanics such as running, jumping and moving in general look and feel much more precise and improved.
The combination of criticism about this game is actually a bit of a misunderstanding. Most of the negative comments cite the lack of innovation of the game, saying that it is just another FPS. Well, Borderlands is FPS, that can't be changed and it won't be changed, and the game has a unique splendor of colorful characters, cool weapons and a 90s science fiction action story … so, why not Would you keep your original style? Borderlands 3 is a perfect continuation of the last two games. He doesn't mess with things that don't need to be fixed, he adds where he is supposed to add, he improves access to the game in visual terms, he has all the amazing new soundtrack and brings infinity. There are several ways to destroy your enemies. What else could a player want?
