Asus unveils leather and gold laptop to celebrate its 30-year anniversary

Asus celebrates its 30th anniversary with a special edition laptop. The Asus ZenBook Edition 30 includes a white leather cap and an 18-carat pink gold logo that looks a lot like Star Trek's star fleet insignia. Asus has not been fully skinned like the leather hybrid tablet / HP Folio laptop, but that means that this latest ZenBook is a traditional laptop.

"Each piece of genuine leather is selected by hand," explains Asus president Jonney Shih. "Each panel cover is sewn in an important way by a master tailor". Asus also supplies special accessories for this leather laptop, which includes a white pearl mouse and a leather case. However, this is not the first time that Asus has experimented with leather in laptops. Asus launched its S6F laptop covered in leather for the first time in 2006 with the cover and leather-covered palm rest.

Within the ZenBook Edition 30 is the Intel 8th Gen Core i7 processor, Nvidia GeForce MX2 discrete graphics, up to 16 GB of RAM and PCIe SSD storage. This 13-inch laptop also has a non-bezel screen from Asus with a 95 percent screen-to-body ratio. Asus also includes its ScreenPad, which puts a screen on the trackpad.

Asus has not disclosed the prices or release date, but since the company is launching this as a premium and limited edition, this will not be a cheap 13-inch laptop.
