The Alexa app, which acts as a setup and companion software for Amazon's Echo devices, has been visually re-designed. This new app provides an enhanced user interface that makes it easier for Alexa to control the smart home devices that are available.
You can see the biggest improvements on the Devices tab. Now you can control individual smart lights and power outlets on the same screen at the same time and see what is grouped by conference room at the same time. Elsewhere, the update focused more on the look of the app instead of adding new features.
As Alexa becomes a smart home ecosystem, updates are coming out on both iOS and Android that bundle all the other devices together. Amazon recently released a new hardware kit that allows manufacturers to easily integrate Alexa support into devices such as microwave ovens, and updated the Smart Speaker suite with the new Echo Plus, which lets you control your smart home even when you are disconnected from the Internet.
